About Jamie Greene
Psychotherapist, Coach and a man on a quest to make sense of the world.
Born and raised in England, Jamie has been through it all; he survived boarding school, had relationship challenges, been an 80’s pop drummer, hobnobbed with Royalty, flip-flopped careers, you name it; he’s witnessed it all.
His own experiences have helped him to empathize and assist others with extraordinary situations. Through the journey of life’s lessons and adventures, Jamie developed his specialties in couples work, anxiety disorders, addiction management, personal reinvention and bulldozing mid-life crisis!
It is his passion for personal reinvention that has led to the creation of group trainings, where individuals learn and change surprisingly quickly in ways that last. There’s nothing as sobering as seeing ourselves through the eyes of others. It’s an exceptionally effective way to achieve giant steps in leadership growth.
In his corporate and executive coaching work, Jamie brings his brand of Unconventional Coaching for Exceptional Leadership Effectiveness.
Jamie is living proof that it doesn’t matter where you are, or where you’ve been, you can create the destination where your unique purpose is fully realized.
At 18, he attended Pepperdine University in Malibu and gained his BSc in Sports Medicine, graduating in 1986.
At the tender age of 21, Jamie made his name as a session drummer in LA, creating a platform to express his electronic percussive skills at the chic after hours downtown club Vertigo, where he would entertain the crowds as their ‘house drummer’ every weekend. It was during those late-80′s that he made his connections with such artists as Thomas Dolby, Pet Shop Boys, George Michael and Tori Amos.

In 1990, armed with an MA in Marriage & Family Therapy and a busy internship, he met the British pop duo Go West who became his closest friends throughout the 90′s. Jamie would live a double life as a ‘shrink’ by day and pop drummer at night on mini-promo tours with Go West who were enjoying the smash hit “King of Wishful Thinking” from the Pretty Woman movie soundtrack.
At one time, Jamie had 4 videos in rotation on MTV and VH1 as well as making numerous TV appearances and live shows while building his private practice in Encino, and none of his patients ever discovering his double identity!
With his rock star days firmly behind him, Jamie then built a thriving reputation as a licensed psychotherapist, teacher, mentor and leadership trainer.
He fostered a loyal following in such classes as ‘Overcoming Fears, Phobias and Anxiety’, ‘Hidden Addictions‘ and the ‘Art of Negotiation‘.
It was through teaching that he was able to discover his true purpose - to generate impact in people’s lives by shifting their focus, unlocking their potential and transforming how they function in the world.
His Zen like approach to personal coaching combined with his British sense of humor and refreshing straight talk, has helped hundreds of teens, young adults, grown-ups, couples, executives and teams change their entire perspectives of work and life.
In 2005, he was cast as a real-life marriage therapist in the FOX show ‘Marriage 911′ and helped to save a marriage on the rocks in just one week. The couple is still thriving, years later.
Jamie was most recently featured as Therapist and Life Coach to Brad Womack on Season 15 of “The Bachelor” on ABC.
Jamie shows his clients that it doesn’t matter who they are; it’s how they are that will make their lives more meaningful and rewarding. He coaches people to make more sense of their world, thus being much more effective in it, and he models his unique point of view so well when he says that it’s truly, never too late to change.
It is Jamie’s wish that this web site and his Off The Couch Consulting work offer new perspectives on how to truly be free in the business world, rather than a slave to it.
